Manuellecouture started with a simple frustration: the leather bag on a Lagos boutique shelf marked ₦450,000 was made in the same factories sometimes on the very same production line as bags selling in Milan and Guangzhou for a fraction of that price once you strip away the markups, the middlemen, and the “luxury tax” charged to African buyers.
So we cut out the middle.
## We Go There Ourselves
Our founder travels directly to factories in China, Italy, and across Asia sourcing leather goods, shoes, and clothing from the same production houses that supply major fashion labels. No agents. No wholesalers padding the price three or four times over before a product ever reaches Nigeria. We inspect the leather, check the stitching, and negotiate the price ourselves, in person, at the source.
This means:
You get factory-direct pricing.** No layers of distributors between the maker and you.
You get factory-grade quality.** The same materials and construction standards used by established luxury houses.
You get it faster and more honestly.** We know exactly where every piece comes from, because we were there.
Why This Matters for Nigerian Women

How We Choose What We Sell
Every product goes through the same process before it earns a place on Manuellecouture:
1. Source visits — our founder personally visits factories and production facilities rather than ordering blind from a catalogue.
2. Material inspection — leather grade, hardware quality, and stitching are checked on-site before any order is placed.
3. Sample testing — pieces are tested for wear, weight, and finish before we commit to a full order.
4. Fair pricing — because we buy direct, we price direct. What you pay reflects the product, not a chain of middlemen.
